Wisconsin NRB Meeting Jan. 22
The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board (NRB) will meet in-person for the January meeting to consider proposed rulemaking documents and other matters.
The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, in public meeting room G09, State Natural Resources Building (GEF 2), 101 South Webster Street, Madison, Wisconsin. The Board will act on items 1-4 and 7-8 as listed on the agenda.
The public is encouraged to watch the January meeting on the DNRs YouTube channel.

Applications For Wild Turkey, Pheasant And Waterfowl Stamp Funding Due Feb. 14
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is now accepting applications for Wild Turkey, Pheasant, and Waterfowl Stamp funding. Applications will be accepted through Feb. 14, 2025.
Stamp funds are available to nonprofit conservation organizations, tribes, academic institutions and government units focused on habitat management for wild turkeys, pheasants and waterfowl. For turkey and pheasant stamps, funds are also available for outreach, education and research. The funding for successful applicants will be available during the DNR's 2026 and 2027 fiscal years.

OutWiGo For Free Fishing Weekend Jan. 18-19
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hosting Free Fishing Weekend Jan. 18-19 to share the fun and excitement of winter fishing. During Free Fishing Weekend, anglers of all ages can wet a line in any Wisconsin waters open to fishing without a fishing license, trout stamp or salmon stamp.
All other 2024-2025 Hook and Line regulations including bag limits, size limits and species restrictions remain in effect. While most trout streams are open during the catch-and-release season on Free Fishing Weekend, there are trout streams, spring ponds and lakes that are closed to fishing. Please review the trout regulations or check with your local biologist if you have questions about specific waters. For trout streams that are open, only artificial lures are allowed, and anglers must release all trout caught.

DNR To Host Virtual Public Hearing On Proposed Deer Management Unit Rule
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will host a virtual public hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 5 p.m. to provide members of the public a formal comment opportunity on the draft rule that would change portions of the states deer management unit boundaries.
The DNR reviews deer management unit boundaries every few years, with this years review focusing on the management units in the Northern Forest Zone, the Metropolitan Sub-Units and the boundary lines between the Central Forest and Farmland Zones.
