DNR RETIRING HUNT WILD WISCONSIN MOBILE APP USERS ENCOURAGED TO USE ONLINE HUNTING RESOURCES.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced that as of June 29, 2023 the Hunt Wild mobile application will be retired. Instead, hunting and regulation resources can be found on the DNRs Hunting webpage.
The Hunt Wild mobile application was launched in 2018 to provide mobile access to hunting information.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced preliminary totals for the 2023 spring turkey season. Wisconsin turkey hunters registered 42,439 birds this season, a 7% increase from the five-year average.
The 2023 spring season started on April 15 with the two-day youth hunt for hunters under 16 years old. A total of 2,972 birds were registered, a 28% increase from the five-year averageUPRIVER LAKES STURGEON SPEARING APPLICATION DEADLINE IS AUG. 1

MADISON, Wis. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reminds sturgeon spearers wishing to apply for an Upriver Lakes spearing tag for the 2024 sturgeon spearing season to submit their applications by Aug. 1.
Spearers wishing to spear on the Upriver Lakes are required to apply for a tag due to the higher harvest rate associated with the Upriver Lakes. A total of 500 applicants will receive a tag to spear a sturgeon from lakes Poygan, Winneconne and Butte des Morts during the 2024 sturgeon spearing season. These spearing tags will be issued through a drawing where priority is given to applications with the most preference points. Spearers can also choose to purchase a preference point for future applications in lieu of applying for a tag this year.

WISCONSIN NRB MEETING JUNE 2728
The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board will meet in-person for the June board meeting to consider several proposed rulemaking documents, fish and wildlife matters, and donations.
The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, originating from DNR Southeast Region Headquarters, 1027 W. St. Paul Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Board will act on items 1-4 and 7 as listed on the agenda.
The public is encouraged to watch the June board meeting on the DNRs YouTube channel.

DNR SEEKS PUBLICS HELP TO PREVENT SPREAD OF INVASIVE SPECIES
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) asks the public to take simple precautions to avoid spreading invasive, nonnative plants and animals in our woods, waters and land year-round.
Invasive species are nonnative plants, animals and diseases that cause great ecological, environmental or economic harm. Some have already been found in Wisconsin, while others pose a large risk of surviving and causing problems if they are introduced and established here.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is highlighting the importance of maintaining safe dams in the wake of National Dam Safety Awareness Day May 31.
Dams are an essential part of the infrastructure in the United States, with over 90,000 dams across the country, including about 3,000 in Wisconsin. Proper management and maintenance of dams is vital to the public and customers associated with each dam.

DOOR COUNTY STATE PARK FRIENDS GROUPS RECEIVE $250K FROM ROOM TAX MONEY WILL FUND IMPROVEMENTS AT FIVE STATE PARKS
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is pleased to announce that the Friends groups at Newport, Peninsula, Potawatomi, Whitefish Dunes, and Rock Island state parks will receive a substantial contribution from Destination Door County (DDC).
This comes after the Door County Tourism Zone Commission approved a proposal to invest higher-than-anticipated 2022 room-tax collections in area parks. The new program will distribute $800,000 among Municipal Parks, the Friends of Door County Parks and five Wisconsin State Park Friends Groups.

DNR EXPERTS WARN OF A BAD SPONGY MOTH SUMMER
PEST OUTBREAK MAY BE WORST IN MORE THAN A DECADE
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) warns the public that the next two months could bring the worst spongy moth caterpillar outbreak in more than a decade.
Invasive spongy moth caterpillars, formerly known as gypsy moth, strip trees of their leaves, potentially killing high-value trees. They prefer to feed on oak, birch, crabapple, aspen and willow leaves but will also feed on many other tree and shrub species.
Southern Wisconsin and parts of the north are already in a high-population outbreak that is predicted to continue and spread.
