Accessible Cabin Reservations Open Jan.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be accepting reservations for accessible cabins at Wisconsin state park properties beginning Tuesday, Jan. 10. Applications can be mailed or dropped off at the state park, forest or recreational area you wish to reserve. Applications that are mailed must have a postmark of Jan. 10 or later to be accepted.
Wisconsin state park properties offer 10 accessible cabins for those unable to use outdoor campsites. These cabins are available only to people with disabilities and their guests and must be reserved ahead of time. In general, the cabins are available from May to October every year.

DNR ANNOUNCES GRANT TO BUILD FISHING COMMUNITY
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is accepting applications for the Angler Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation (Angler R3) grant program. Funding from the grant program is used to help grow the number of anglers in Wisconsin and expand angling activities.
Cost-sharing funds can be awarded to individuals or community-based organizations, Wisconsin tribes, universities and schools.

OUTWIGO TO SAUK PRAIRIE FOR BALD EAGLE WATCHING DAYS JAN. 14-15
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invites the public to participate in the 36th anniversary of Bald Eagle Watching Days happening Jan. 14-15 to celebrate the species and its remarkable comeback in Wisconsin. All Bald Eagle Watching Days events are free and open to the public.
Wisconsin's longest-running eagle-watching event features in-person and virtual activities. Participants can catch a glimpse of eagles over the Wisconsin River at the newly renovated overlook on Water Street in Prairie du Sac. Volunteers will be available at the overlook to answer questions about bald eagles on both days from 8 a.m. 4 p.m., weather permitting.

Catching up on some old/new news. Mostly passings. I havent started looking at lunches for this year yet. Probably will resume in March or April.
Recently we learned of the passing of one of our former colleagues in the Division of Forestry. Carl Hensley died unexpectedly at the end of September at the age of 81.
He loved telling stories and riding his two Harleys. Carl is survived by his wife and two sons and their families Per Carls request there were no public services.
Jack D. Lantta, 86, of Arbor Vitae, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022, at Marshfield Medical Center-Minocqua. He was born on January 8, 1936, in Ramsey, Mich. He was the son of Fred, Sr. and Gertrude Lantta. He married Rose Marie (Trapp) on April 15, 1961, with whom he spent 61 years of marriage. Jack Zeinert, 90 of Wausau, passed away peacefully Sept. 25, 2022 surrounded by his family. He served his country proudly as a US Air Force Veteran in the Korean war from 1950 to 1954. Jeffrey John Roth, beloved father, brother, and grandfather passed away peacefully On Sunday December 18th, 2022, surrounded by his family. He pursued his passion for the outdoors and fishing by attending the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Jeff graduated with a Bachelors degree in Fisheries Biology and Management and worked as a fisheries biologist for the Wisconsin DNR for 34 years. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday January 7, 2023, from 1:00 5:00pm at The Big Dipper bar and restaurant in Park Falls. Birch Street Funeral Service is assisting the family.
Arthur Jossart Sr., age 77 of Arbor Vitae, WI passed away quietly at his home on Sunday, December 18th. Arthur was a hardworking man who loved hunting. He was a good friend to many and will be missed. Upon his wishes, cremation took place and a Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, January 20th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, WI.
